Name: Andrew Mattinson (Matto)
Position: President

To both understand little athletics and to contribute to the club that my boys are members of.

Name: Sheridan English
Positions: Competition Director, Vice President, Relay Coordinator & SMR Delegate
Why did you get involved?
As an ex-athlete back in the day, I always wanted to encourage my children to participate in Little Aths. It’s such a great sport, which helps with pretty much every other sport they’ve played over the years, and the social aspect is brilliant for helping kids make new friends and build confidence. I enjoyed attending as a parent, but thought there were things we could possibly differently, so figured I may as well join the committee and be part of making CLAC the best club it can be! The fabulous people that have been on the committee over the years have made it easy to stay involved – many hands make light work and we have a lot of fun along the way. I’m so proud of how far we have come in my time with the club, and look forward to seeing where we can go in the future.

Why did you get involved?
I wanted to get more involved in the club as my daughter was passionate about it. An opportunity arose to take on the role of Club Secretary and it’s been a great learning experience. I’m very committed to the Club and hope that I’ve been able to make a positive contribution.
How long have you been involved with CLAC?
My daughter participated in a “come & try” program in 2016 and I quickly became involved in the Club helping out where I could. This was recognised with a volunteer award in the 21/22 season. (Ella U13)

Position: Treasurer
Why did you get involved?
I just wanted to try and help out and to see what it was like to be on a committee as was the first time – so far so good!
How long have you been involved with CLAC?
2 years. (William & Sara U12)
Name: Claire Burzacott
Positions: Registrar, Website, Team App, Newsletter, Acting Duty Coordinator
Why did you get involved?
I started out as an Assistant AGM in U7s as my parent duty because I wanted to be hands on. All the parents in our girls age group were new to athletics so we had a lot of fun learning how to officiate the events together. My daughter loved athletics and hanging out with the girls each Saturday and still does in U14s. I was tapped on the shoulder by then President Jason Whittle to join the committee, as the club needed new members from the younger age groups “to pass the baton onto”. My 4 years on the committee have been a rewarding experience. I urge parents to join the committee as you will get a feeling of immense satisfaction from working as part of a committed team that delivers a fantastic experience for our kids each week. It’s been great fun.

Name: Julie Vun
Position: Assistant Registrar
Why did you get involved?
I have two boys who have been involved with CLAC since they were U6.  Athletics have been a big part of their lives and it compliments with other sports that they play. They enjoyed the training and competition as well as the friendships they made over the years. A couple of years ago, the club was needing more people to help spread the work load. It became apparent to me that some Committee members were taking on 3-4 roles to ensure the club was running smoothly. I felt it was time to help where I could and give back to the club that has supported my boys’ athletic journey.

Why did you get involved?
My mum was on the Caulfield Little Aths Committee when I was competing and CLAC was a huge part of my family’s summer for so many years.  Now that I have kids back at CLAC, it has been great for them to understand how important it is to volunteer and help out to run the program during the season.  And it is also a lot of fun getting to know so many of the parents and see so many kids share a common interest of a love of athletics.
How long have you been involved with CLAC?
This is my second stint at Caulfield Little Athletics. As a kid, I competed for Caulfield from U10s to U15s and now my kids have been with the club for their fourth season! This is my first season on the Committee and for the past 3 seasons I have been the Age Group Manager for my daughter’s group, which has been really rewarding seeing so many of these girls improve on their PBs and develop some lovely friendships!
